Wildcat Football returns to action Friday night at home against Wilmer-Hutchins. Hutchins is struggling in early-going with a 0-2 record. In the season opener, the Eagles lost to FTW Dunbar 56-17. Last week Hutchins suffered their second loss, this time to Terrell, 40-13. (Terrell is 3-0 and ranked #17 in 4A by MaxPreps.)

The game time this Friday is 7:30 pm at Wildcat Stadium.

With no game scheduled last week, Kennedale (1-1) has had time to regroup after their loss to Midlothian Heritage 22-7 in the second game of the season. The Wildcats don’t lose often so expect the Cats to respond with an offensive show this week.

Next week, Kennedale will open district play against Castleberry. It was expected that the team to challenge the reigning district champs, the Kennedale Wildcats, would be FTW Benbrook.  However, the Dunbar Wildcats are currently leading the pack with a non-district record of 2-1.  That match-up will not happen until the 9th game of the season on October 29th.  The Benbrook game will close out the regular season the following week.

Kennedale dropped one place in MaxPreps Class 4A state rankings from #12 to #13 after the loss to Heritage.

Lady Kat Volley is again #3 in the TGCA statewide rankings with a record of 23-3. In fact, Kennedale also claims the #3 spot statewide by MaxPreps and the Texas Volleyball Insider.

The Star-Telegram rankings for area teams, 4A and below, keeps Kennedale at #1 followed by #2 Godley. Argyle fell to #7 from the 3rd spot. Glen Rose moved up three places to #5 while Springtown vaulted into the polls at #6 and Alvarado entered at #8. Benbrook dropped to #10, down from 6th.

This past week the Lady Kats defeated 5A Azle in 3 sets: 25-23, 25-21, 25-22. The Kats have had 16 sweeps (not losing a set in a match) this season.

Kennedale will face two strong 4A teams in their next two matches.  The Kats will travel to Glen Rose (17-8) this Friday with a game-time of 4:30 pm. As previously mentioned, Glen Rose is #5 in the area 4A and under teams according to the Star-Telegram and comes in at 24th in the MaxPreps Texas 4A state-wide ratings.

Next Tuesday, September 21, the Kats will take on Stephenville. Stephenville (18-9) is ranked state-wide as #5 by MaxPreps, #11 by Texas Volleyball Insider, and #23 by TGCA. Game time for the Stephenville game is 6 pm in the Wildcat Den at Kennedale High School.
