Kennedale Wildcat Basketball is now 21-3 ranked #9 in Texas in Class 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and #5 by MaxPreps for 4A roundball.
The Cats are undefeated at 4-0 in District 10 play through 4 games of first-round district action.
Due up is Ferris (9-15, 2-2) tonight, January 17, at 6:30 in the Wildcat Den at Kennedale High School followed by a game versus a hot Venus Bulldog team (22-6, 5-0) next Tuesday, January 23, at Venus High School (game time is 7 pm).
Senior leaders this year are Ruben Rivera, Tristan Lewis, Noah Biles, Grayson Powers, Pablo Agosto-Vega, and Isaiah Salas. Playing big for the Cats are Jacoby Lovings (So), Jackson Stingley (Jr), A’meir Williams (Jr), Michael Hall (So), and Trey Smith (So).
Head Coach is Doug Groff for the past 19 years at Kennedale High. The Wildcats are a perennial winner under him and have missed the playoffs only twice in those years. This includes one state title, one state runner-up, five regional quarterfinals, and five regional semi-final appearances. The Wildcats are known for smart, disciplined play, and could go deep in his 20th season.
