Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award watch list adds Quardraiz Wadley

The University of Texas at El Paso has a senior on the Miners football team named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose watch list for the 2020 football season.

Senior running back Quardraiz Wadley and former Kennedale High School Wildcat standout was singled out for the honor this past week.

Forty-seven student-athletes made the list. Wadley is one of 10 running backs named to the list. While the list includes players from across the nation, all must have Texas ties.

The award is for the top offensive player in Division 1 football who is either born in Texas, graduated from a Texas High School, and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.

After the list is narrowed down to five finalists, the finalist will be selected by broadcasters, commentators, journalists, fans, and previous winners. The winner will be announced at the end of the 2020 college football season.

As a Kennedale Wildcat in his senior year, Wadley rushed for 2,511 yards (193 yards per game), added 319 return yards (34 yards per), and scored 45 touchdowns. Wildcats finished 12-1 that year as undefeated district champions and going three deep into the playoffs.

At UTEP Wadley has rushed for 1,072 yards and eight touchdowns in 26 career games. He has added 106 yards on seven receptions and a score. This after missing all of last season with a leg injury.

Wadley’s career high in rushing was a 156-yard performance at Army in 2017, while in 2018 he tallied a season-high 111 yards against New Mexico State.

Expectations are high in El Paso this year for the Kennedale native.
