For the second time this season, the Kennedale Wildcats shut out the Castleberry Lions. The last meeting the Cats won 7-0.
Friday night the Lions didn’t put up much of a fight, as the #13 Kennedale (17-6-1, 6-1) cruised to a 8-0 win in seven innings at Castleberry (7-8-2, 4-3). {{more}}
The Wildcats Varsity scored three runs in the second on a groundout by Brett Hunt, an error, and a walk by Josh Taylor. In the inning Ryan Box and Shane O’Connor reached on a singles.
The Kennedale’s Taylor was perfect at the dish, going 2-2.
Austin Eggleston (6-1) kept Castleberry off the board during his six innings of work. Austin allowed six hits, one walk and struck out eight.
Sonnier took the loss for Castleberry. He allowed seven runs in five innings, walked seven and struck out one.
The Kennedale Wildcats Varsity scored two runs in the fourth inning, and then followed it up with two more in the fifth. In the fourth, the Wildcats scored on a two-run single by Ryan Box, scoring TJ Aguilar and Taylor. In the fifth a double by Perez scored Hunt and O’Connor.
The final run was scored by Taylor off a fielder’s choice grounder by Eggleston in the top of the sixth.
Friday night a highly anticipated rematch with the Mineral Wells Rams will be played in Mineral Wells. The Rams (15-9, 6-1) have been the only district team to tag the Wildcats with a loss in district play this year.
