Allie Turner threw a no-hitter in Kennedale Lady Kats‘ 16-1 victory over Castleberry Friday night. This was the third one in row for Turner and completes a sweep of Castleberry this season 33-1.Kennedale (19-6, 8-0) is currently ranked #3 in 3A softball.
No Castleberry batter was able to locate Allie’s pitches during Friday night’s game. Turner struck out 13 batters and walked three in five innings. {{more}}
Six runs in the first three innings helped the Lady Kats Varsity blow out Castleberry. A sacrifice fly by Jazlyn Crowder, an RBI double by Alicia Lopez, a groundout by Maegan Garza, and an error during the first inning fueled Kennedale’s offense early.
Kennedale hammered Castleberry pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for eight hits, seven RBIs and 11 runs scored.
The Kats Varsity piled on two more runs in the top of the third as both Carson Whatley and Garza scored on ground outs.
The fourth was another big inning with Kennedale adding six more runs. After a walk by Turner and a single by Wooden, Crowder doubled, scoring Allie to start the runs. Seven Lady Kats walked in the inning.
The Lady Kats built upon its lead with four runs in the fifth. Lopez started it off with single. Then a bases loaded walk scored Mariah Benard to get Kennedale on the board in the inning.
Tonight is the final home game and is “Senior Night” at the Lady Kats’ ballpark. KHS Seniors and their parents will be recognized at pre-game ceremonies. Tonight’s game is against Lake Worth starting at 7:30 p.m.
The Lady Kats will close out their regular season on Friday night against Mineral Wells at Mineral Wells.
