He was a Korean War veteran, Assemblies of God pastor, and missionary. He loved the Lord, family, chocolate, politics, reading, and bluegrass music.

John was born April 26, 1933, in Childress County, Texas, to Tommy and Grace Robinson.

He married Juanell Janiece McReynolds on Jan. 24, 1959, and served in the ministry as pastor in Las Vegas, N.M., and Rock Island, Texas; as dorm parent and Highway Chapel pastor at Pleasant Hills Children’s Home in Fairfield, Texas; as director and business manager of the A/G youth hostel in Tokyo, Japan; as an associate pastor of Yokota Air Base Servicemen’s Church in Fussa, Japan; instructor at Bethel Bible Institute in Manila, Philippines; director of the A/G’s Philippine Literature Evangelism; and as evangelist throughout North Texas.

John earned his bachelor’s at Southwestern Assemblies of God University and his master’s from Ateneo de Manila University. Throughout the years, he enjoyed playing the banjo and teaching Sunday school at Bethel Assembly of God in Arlington and at Life Fellowship Church in Kennedale.

He is survived by his wife, Juanell Robinson of Waxahachie; his son, Rev. Danny Robinson, and daughter-in-law, Beverly Robinson of Kennedale; daughter Cynthia Winters of Waxahachie; daughter Christy Robinson and son-in-law, Brian Peters, of Dallas; granddaughters Janiece Turner of Waxahachie and Keena Robinson of Murrieta, Cali.; great-granddaughters Carolina and Lucy Turner of Waxahachie; brothers Arnold Robinson of Waxahachie, Al Robinson of Elm Mott, and Rev. Jimmy Robinson of Nixa, Mo.; and by his “bad cats,” Bandi and Heidi.
