7 KHS lifters qualify for State Meet – Boys win Region title

Kennedale Lady Kats …
 
This year, the Kennedale Lady Kats won one meet, placed seventh at region and earned two slots for the Lady Kats at the state meet.
 
State Meet, Corpus Christi, March 17: Kylie Howard placed 8th at state with lifts of 330 squat, 180 bench and 340 deadlift for a total of 850lbs. Maria Lopez placed 11th in the state with lifts of 280 squat, 160 bench and 325 lift for a total of 765 lbs.
 
Region 6 Division 2 Princeton High School: Lady Kats took 7th place, out of the 20 team participating. Kennedale had two second place finishers, one third and two fifth place finishes. Winning 2nd was Kylie Howard and Maria Lopez. Howard in her class had lifts of 305 squat, 170 bench and 325 dead lift for a total of 800 lbs. Lopez in her class had 320 squat, 150 bench and 310 lift for a total of 780lbs. Erica Rico took 3rd in the class with lifts of 210 squat, 100 bench and 235 lift for 545lbs. Finishing in 5th were Mariah Wells (285+115+295=695lbs) and Shae Smith (275+155+375=805lbs). Also lifting was Julia Rico 8th (165+75+180=420lbs), Ruth Mitchell 7th (245+130+245=620lbs), Allyssa Boubel 6th (330+135+335=800lbs) and Jacqulyn Fennel 9th (230+140+280=650lbs).
 
Kennedale Invitational February 20: Lady Kats won the meet with 57 points outdistancing Bridgeport by 23 points. Rounding out the scoring was Carrollton Turner, Carrollton Ranchview, Aubrey and Carrollton Creekview. Winning first in their individual class for Kennedale were Erica Rico (535lbs), Ruth Mitchell (580lbs), Kylie Howard (715lbs), Maria Lopez (770lbs), Khesslyn Henderson, Alyssa Boubel (740lbs) and Erlyna Morgan (870lbs). Finishing second were Julia Rico (410lbs), Mariah Wells (680lbs) and Shae Smith (725lbs). Earning 3rd place finishes were Paxton Booher (480lbs) and Jacqulyn Fennel (655lbs). Others were Raven Brady 6th (295lbs), Katlina Moore 6th (485lbs)
 
Kennedale Wildcats …
 
This year the Kennedale Wildcats placed second at the Kennedale Invitational, won region and earned 5 berths at the state meet on April 2 in Abilene.
 
 
 
Region 6 Division 2, Chico High School, March 5: The KHS Wildcat team lifted their way to the THSPA Region 6, Division 2 title with 2 first place wins, 3 second place finishes, 1 third place, 1 fourth and 1 seventh place. The top two finishers in each class qualify for the state meet in the region meet, Kennedale outdistanced Iowa Park 34 points to 26. Finishing out the top 10 were Decatur, Sanger, Anna, Castleberry, Gainesville, Mineral Wells, Bridgeport and Nevada Community. There 23 teams in the meet.
 
Justin Lindsey, defending state champ, qualified in the 114 class with lifts of 430 squat, 225 bench and 375 lift for a 1,030lbs total and 1st place. John Mitchell qualified in the 148 class with lifts of 410 squat, 235 bench, 430 lift for a total 1,075lbs and a 2nd place finish. Colton Hall qualified in the 220 class with lifts of 540 squat, 315 bench, 535 lift for a total of 1,390lbs and a 2nd place finish. Barron Browning and Matt Naugle claimed 1st and 2nd place in the 242 class to qualify for state. Browning had lifts of 540 squat, 340 bench and 585 lift for a total 1,465lbs and first place. Naugle had lifts of 555 squat, 345 bench and 530 lift for a total of 1,430lbs and 2nd place in region.
 
Others team members were Stephen Linares (4th 148 Class: 440 squat + 215 bench + 410 lift = 1065lbs), Gjemar Daniels (3rd SHW Class: 585 squat + 370 bench + 560 lift = 1515lbs) and Johnny Zielinski (7th SHW: 545 squat + 310 bench + 425 lift = 1280lbs).
 
In statewide rankings Justin Lindsey currently is in 2nd place in the 114 class. Baron Browning is ranked 12th in the 242 class.
 
Kennedale Invitational February 20: Wildcats finished 2nd out of a 7 teams. Everman took the 1st place. Wildcats placing at the meet were Class 114 – 1st Justin Lindsay 905lbs; Class 123 – 4th Angel Rico 680lbs; Class 148 ? 1st Stephen Linares 1,135lbs; 3rd Louis Flores 945lbs; 4th Hayden Brock 935lbs; 10th Bill Quigley 820lbs; Class 165 5th Jacob Winters 815lbs, 7th Zach Culpepper 770lbs, 8th Josh Berman 720lbs; Class 198 – 6th William Landers 1,155lbs, 7th Ricardo Pena 1,155, 13th Jesse Diaz 870lbs, 14th Dylon Miranda 806lbs; Class 220 ? 1st Colton Hall 1,405lbs, 4th Aaron Williams 1,240lbs, 5th Alexis Sanchez 1,115lbs; 11th Brandon Kiernan 980lbs; Class 242 ? 1st Matt Naugle 1,370lbs, 4th Killian Carper 975lbs; Class 275 ? 5th Chris Serwanga 1,100; Class SHW ? 1st Gjemar Daniels 1,400lbs, 4th Johnny Zielinski 1,230lbs.
