Boys of Spring racked up three more wins now 17-5-1

The Kennedale Wildcats are rolling through District 7-4A adding an extra inning win over Castleberry and a drilling of Diamond Hill last weekend. Then on Tuesday evening, the Cats pulled off an upset win over non-district opponent 5A Denton, 13-3. {{more: continue …}}

The two district wins move Kennedale to 9-0 in district play and those wins combined with the Denton victory make the Cats 17-5-1 overall.

Castleberry fell three games behind the league leading Wildcats. However, it was a close game that went in an extra inning before the Cats pulled out a 2-1 win over the Lions last Friday. But on Saturday, the Cats got plenty of batting practice in the the 26 hit pounding of Diamond Hill-Jarvis 31-0 on Saturday. The biggest surprise, however of these three games, was the ease that Kennedale had in defeating Denton on Tuesday.? The Broncos were never really in the game.

  • Jared Taylor for Kennedale earned the win in relief. Facing 9 batters in 2.2 innings on the mound, Taylor threw 33 times getting 22 strikes (.667) and striking out 4 with no hits and no runs.?
  • Starting pitcher, Bryce Hackett faced 21 batters, throwing 56 strikes in 98 pitches (.571) while striking out 10 and allowing 1 run on 4 hits.?

  • Ten Wildcats had hits in the game. Bryce Hackett was the big man at the plate going 4-6 with 5 RBIs, a triple and 5 runs scored. Aaron Herrera continues to be the most consistent hitter for Kennedale was 3-5 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Blake Taylor was a perfect 4-4 at the plate with 4 RBIs. Brandon Jones ended up 3-5 with 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Jared Taylor went 3-5 with 3 RBIs and a run scored.   • The Kennedale 4A Wildcats paid a visit to 5A Denton (16-10-1) this past Tuesday and expertly handled the Broncos. The visiting Wildcats were not intimidated as they garnered 17 hits and 13 runs while committing no errors and left with a resounding 13-3 win.?
  • The Cats scored 4 in the second, 4 in the third, 3 in the third and 2 in the fifth to ten run rule the Broncos and end the game after 5 innings. Denton was limited to 3 runs on 6 hits with 1 error ? all 3 runs came in the 3rd inning.?
  • The strong arm of the Cats’ Jared Taylor earned the win by throwing 55 strikes in 79 pitches (.696), striking out 4, walking none while allowing 6 hits and three runs. Taylor got 11 ground/fly outs.?
  • Kennedale bats were booming as they collected a double, two triples and one home-run in the 17 hits barrage with eight different Wildcats connecting.?
  • Bryce Hackett and Brandon Jones were 4 for 4 at the plate with Hackett getting 3 RBI along with a triple while scoring twice. Jones had 1 RBI, a double and scored three times. Jared Taylor walked twice, hit a single and earned 3 RBIs. Aaron Herrera was 2-4 with 2 RBIs, an in-the-park homerun while scoring twice. The Wildcats play Lake Worth this evening in a 7:30 game at Jet Teague Ballpark at Kennedale High School. After tonight, Kennedale will have just two district games left to play.
