The final official results have yet to be announced but the numbers show Kennedale High School has made the top ten in the Texas 4A Lone Star Cup standing for 2018, reaffirming its role as one of the top performing schools in Class 4A. {{more: continue …}}

When winners are announced in early July, Kennedale should finished #8 behind #1 Argyle followed by Abilene Wylie, Liberty Hill, Midlothian Heritage, Fredericksburg, Melissa, Texarkana Pleasant Grove. Completing the top 10 were Boerne and Carthage.

Kennedale has finished in the top ten 7 times in the last 8 years. Last year Kennedale earned a 4th place finish. In 2013, Kennedale earned its highest ranking at #2. This is Argyle?s 7 straight title.

This year, Argyle once again outdistanced the field with 119 points leaving 2nd place Wylie behind by 30 points. Kennedale with 66 was just one point behind Pleasant Grove at 67 points. Last Kennedale collected 71 points and in 2016 Kennedale had 69 points and finished in 3rd place.

Points are earned depending on finish in the following areas: State and Area Marching Band, Tennis, Team Tennis, Cross Country, Volleyball, Football, Swimming & Diving, Wrestling, Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Soccer, Golf, Track & Field, Academics, One Act Play, Softball, Baseball. (Wrestling is the only event which Kennedale did not participate).?

District start collecting points with district titles and post season playoff/competition wins. At a minimum, district need to win most of their district titles to be in the running. This year Kennedale won district titles in One-Act play, UIl Academics, volleyball, football, girls soccer, girls and boys basketball, baseball and both girls and boys track. But every major Kennedale program participated in playoff competition.

Football finished the highest of all the programs this year with a loss in the state championships, the highest finish ever for Wildcat football.

One part of the high school successful program did not get to contribute this year was the Wildcat Band. Marching band programs can participate in area and state contest every other year and this was Kennedale?s off year. (They did finish with straight 1?s in the regional meet this year and would have advanced if this was their year).

While the official final tabulations have not been posted as it now stands Conroe The Woodlands will be the winner in 6A (117 pts), Prosper in Class 5A (102 pts), Argyle in Class 4A (119 pts), Brock in 3A (86 pts), Mason in Class 2A (70 pts) and Nazareth in Class 1A (69 pts).
