The Kennedale Wildcats scrimmage against Fort Worth Southwest High School tonight, Friday August 24. It will be their last scrimmage before the season opener against Decatur HS next Friday night at home in Kennedale. {{more: continue …}}

Tonight?s scrimmage will pit the Wildcats against 5A Division II Raiders from Southwest High School in the Fort Worth School District.

Southwest finished 7-4 last year overall and were 6-1 in district play. This year they are picked to finish in second place in District 4-5A behind Justin Northwest. The Raiders have 14 starters returning with 7 each on offense and defense.

A player to watch is wide receiver Nnamdi Adim-Madumere (6-3, 230, 4.5 speed). He has gotten a lot of looks by big schools. Besides Nnamdi, look for linebacker Treylon Caddell. He is a pre-season defensive MVP for their district this year. Overall Southwest will have some big players lined up against the Wildcats.

According to Dave Campbell, Southwest could be a dangerous team in their region this year after having a break-through year in 2017.?

Coach Barrett is hoping to get in a couple of quarters worth of scrimmage tonight for both the Freshmen/JV starting at 6 p.m. and the same for varsity.

The Cats this year are in the midst of rebuilding the offensive line after last year?s graduation of much of that line. These scrimmages have provided some live action against some strong teams, something that you can’t get in practices against the JV.? Last week, it was against Waco Robinson and La Vega – both 4A teams with La Vega state ranked and Robinson on the move up.
