Dear Wildcat Families,

We did it! We made it through our first week of back to in-person learning in more than six months, and what a great feeling it was to reconnect face-to-face again! Whether you are an in-person or virtual, we want you to know how grateful we are to be on this educational journey with you for our students. Being on campuses and seeing learning in action, whether in the classroom or through a computer screen, was exciting and just the reminder we needed for why we do what we do every day – our amazing students!

THANK YOU
We want to take a minute to recognize the incredible amount of work and dedication that our community has done as we had to shift to remote and virtual learning environments. Parents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, and friends – many have stepped up to be “learning coaches” in the midst of a pandemic to fill a void that our teachers aren’t able to in a virtual environment. So, we say THANK YOU for the time, energy, and commitment you have shown as we partner together in the education of your children.

LAB-CONFIRMED CASE NOTIFICATION
When lab-confirmed cases are reported to the district, staff, and families at the affected school will receive an email notification from the district. Due to state and federal privacy requirements, the name or details that may identify the individual cannot be released. Anyone determined to be a “close contact” will receive a separate notification with further instructions from your campus.

COVID-19 DASHBOARD
We have received many questions about whether or not the district is going to provide a COVID-19 case tracker. The answer is yes, we will provide this information on a weekly basis at kennedaleisd.net/coviddashboard

COMMITMENT FORMS
As a reminder, families will have the opportunity to change their method of instruction (remote to on-campus, on-campus to remote) choices at the end of every 9-week grading period throughout the school year. If families wish to make a change, the form will be available in the ASCENDER Parent Portal from October 5-16. You will be notified when the form is available.

ATHLETICS
Fall sports are upon us, and we are excited to see our student-athletes compete again and watch our student performers on the sidelines and during halftime shows. With that said, the governing body for school activities, the University Interscholastic League (UIL), issued risk mitigation guidelines for all Texas school districts to follow, including limiting game attendance to 50% capacity.

If you are interested in attending athletic events this fall, we ask that you review KISD’s general guidelines for spectators and tickets.

Thank you for your continued support,
