The Kennedale City Council will meet in a special session to canvass the voting results by officially approving the November 3, 2020 elections. The meeting is set to begin at 5 pm in the Council Chambers at Kennedale City Hall. The regular meeting will follow at 7 pm.

Normally, local elections are held in May of each year, but due to the pandemic, the 2020 elections were delayed to coincide with the state and national elections. Three ran for re-election this year, Mayor Brian Johnson, Councilmember Chris Pugh and Councilmember Linda Rhodes. Pugh lost his bid while the other two were re-elected.

Johnson won with 67.6% of the vote over Jerrick Drayden. New Councilmember Gary Mitchell won with 54.6% of the vote over Pugh and Rhodes won unopposed.

At the meeting, the Council agenda includes

  • the recognition of outgoing Councilmembers,
  • the certification of official returns by the City Secretary – See election results from Tarrant County,
  • canvassing the returns and declaring the results, and,
  • the oaths of office for the Williams, Mitchell and Rhodes.
