The City of Arlington in an update on the project originally posted in July anticipated it to be completed in September 2024. Rain and engineering “corrections” canceled out the September finish. To be safe, the City moved the project back to December of 2024. Weather permitting another month will see Arlington putting on the finishing touches.
The roadway and the bridge are complete
The year-long project called for a three-lane concrete roadway counting a turn lane, including sidewalks and bike lanes. Currently, two lanes are open with one lane remaining closed as side road connections to Steeplechase Trail, Coker Valley Lane, and several residential driveways are being completed.
Sidewalks will line both sides of the new roadway.
It is welcomed news to the parents and the kids who walk to Kennedale High School that the sidewalks are in the finishing stages. The sidewalk on the north side of the roadway, the Kroger half, is open except for some driveway/utility work. However, is is walkable. The other side is still a work in progress. Two-thirds of the forms are finished and awaiting concrete which should be poured early this week.
What is finished and what remains?
According to Arlington the following parts of the overall projection are approximately 100% complete – bridge construction; floodplain mitigation grading and excavation; retainage walls; and, water and sanitary sewer utilities.
Near completion is channel stabilization, and the stormwater system. These are listed as at least 80% done.
Items yet to be completed include sidewalks, linking roadways, pavement markings/signage, and landscaping.
