Wildcats earn rare Friday night off with 40-14 win over FTW Western Hills Thursday

It was tied deep into the second quarter 14-14 last Thursday night at Farrington Field in Fort Worth when the Kennedale Wildcats produced an eight-play, 65-yard scoring drive to take a 7-point lead with 16 seconds left in the half.

The Western Hills Cougars never scored again in the game as Kennedale put the Cougars in their rearview mirror while they tacked up 19 additional unanswered points in the second half to win going away 40-14.
But the early going was not pretty as the Wildcats fumbled twice with each leading to the only points Western Hills scored. The second WH touchdown actually gave them an early led, 14-7.

Kennedale has moved to 3-0 in district play and 5-1 overall.

The Cats will play again tonight, Thursday, at 7 pm against Diamond Hill (0-6) at FTW Handley Stadium.

Q1

PUNT (Western Hills) – WH limited to net 5 yards on first possession, punts to KN at KN49.

TOUCHDOWN (Kennedale) – KN caps 51-yard drive with 5 yd TD run by Cameron Lyles (SR) along with assist by two WH penalties of 10 and 15 yards. Kick good by Aidan Birr, score 7-0.

PUNT (Western Hills) – WH nets 2 yards on 2nd possession, punts to KN that goes out of bounds on WH39.

FUMBLE (Kennedale) – KN fumbles the ball back to WH on the first play at the WH39.

TOUCHDOWN (Western Hills) – Consecutive flags and a QB sack by KN drive WH back to their own 20. A huge flag (roughing the passer) on a completed long pass downfield gives WH the ball on the KN25. WH puts the ball over for their first TD.

FUMBLE (Kennedale) – KN starts on KN13 after a WH punt but fumbles on the first play and WH recovers on KN19.

TOUCHDOWN (Western Hills) – WH scores on rush 3 plays later after the fumble recovery. Kick good, score 7-14 Western Hills.

INTERCEPTION (Western Hills) – WH starts from their 30 after a kickback by A Birr (SR) and a penalty on the KN. On the third play, WH QB throws an interception which was caught by KN J Webb (JR) at the WH22.

FIELD GOAL (Kennedale) – KN struggles to made 1st down and goes for a field goal of 36 yards, effort good by A Birr. Score 31-14.

TURNOVER ON DOWNS (Western Hills) – Despite benefitting from a Kennedale targeting call, WH turns the ball over downs to the Cats on the WH27.

TURNOVER ON DOWNS (Western Hills) – After starting from the WH20, WH is unable to advance beyond the WH27. WH fumbles on 4th down and KN takes over at the WH9.

FUMBLE (Kennedale) – Cats fumble back to WH on the first play, giving the ball to WH on their 9-yard line. SCORE 40-14.

PUNT (Western Hills) – WH reaches the WH 30 but loses yards and is forced to punt from the WH14. Punt goes nowhere and Kennedale takes over at WH19.

Fumble (Kennedale) – Cats reach WH5, flag puts Cats on WH10 where Cats fumble to WH on WH12.
