BURLESON ? Kennedale dominated Friday’s Class 3A area round playoff game against Glen Rose winning 80-57 at Burleson High School, extending the Wildcats win streak to 11 games. ??
?
?We were on a mission today,??{{more}}Kennedale coach Vance Hughes said . ?The girls came out and really played hard and left it all on the court.?
?
Seniors Travanti Downes and Autumn Williams combined for 34 points, while junior guard McKinley Bostad scored a game-high 25.
?
?Travanti is our vocal leader,? said Hughes. ?Autumn is so athletic, but McKinley, she?s just a junior and she can take over a game on any given night.?
?
Bostad, the area?s third leading scorer, hit two big 3-pointers in the first quarter to set the tone for the Lady Kats.
?
?After those two 3?s I knew I was hot and I wanted the ball,? said a grinning Bostad. ?I?ve been staying after practice to work on my shot and I just want to do my best to help my team win.?
?
Kennedale (28-6) led by as many as 21 points in the first half, but Glen Rose (23-8) kept things interesting by going on 6-0 run before the half to cut the deficit to 15. ?Bostad provided the spark in the second half, scoring 10 third-quarter points to put the Wildcats up by 26.
?
While the win was gratifying, Kennedale has a much bigger prize in mind.
?
?Our mindset is we aren?t settling for anything less than winning the regional finals,? Hughes said. ?We?ve been there three years in a row and lost every time. Most of these girls started as freshman and they won?t settle for anything less than being regional champions.?
