Turner heads Development Code Advisory Committee

Last month the Kennedale City Council formed a committee to act as an advisory group in the revision of zoning and development codes for the City of Kennedale naming nine members of the community. {{more}}
 
Listed as a priority in the current year budget, the goal of a revision of the zoning and development codes is to coordinate with the city?s comprehensive land use plan. The process will include the selection of a consulting firm to prepare and recommend ordinances. After a review of RFQs, a selected firm will be submitted to the City Council at the April 20th meeting.
 
The process is expected to take about 14 months to complete once the selected firm begins work. The appointed advisory committee will provide guidance. It is anticipated that the advisory group will meet four times during the process. Two public meetings are planned along with an on-line input process for the public.
 
The nine-member representative committee includes representatives from the Council (2), Planning and Zoning (2), Economic Development Corporation (2), Parks & Recreation (1), Board of Adjustments (1), and the Kennedale Chamber of Commerce (1). The committee membership includes Kelly Turner, Chair; Mike Walker, Vice-chair; Earnest Harvey; Stephen Brim; Robert Mundy; Adrianne Kay; Mike Chandler; Pat Vader and Carl Hall.
 

In other business the City Council authorized the City Manager Bob Hart to execute a contract with Dowager Utility Construction, Ltd for the construction of water and wastewater improvements on Bloxom Road. The construction of new water and waste water utilities in Bloxom Park will improve service in the area. The area is currently served by Arlington water and failing septic systems. The amount for the approved base bid was for $294,858.40.

 
Progressive Waste Solutions of Texas was given a 2 year contract extension January 31, 2020 for solid waste and recycle collection to help the company recover the cost of providing the recycling containers to all Kennedale residents.
 

The next City Council meeting is scheduled for April 20 at 7 p.m. For
