US Representative Martin Frost and Texas State Senator Chris Harris spoke to the Kennedale Chamber of Commerce. Frost stated that for the new legislative session of Congress ?everything, except Social Security, would be on the table.? He stated that the national economy would be the number one issue for 1993. He was introduced by Mayor Bill Abbott and Chamber President Leslie Horton.

Early morning blaze guts two story house at 4415 Garden Road. Kennedale fireman Richard Hayner said ?We could have saved more of the house if we had the right equipment.?

A back injury to a Kennedale patrolman will leave the city with only three patrolling officers reported Police Chief B.J. Hopper. They will be on 7 day shifts for the immediate future.

The school district may have to consider an 11% tax increase announced J.W. Teague, Superintendent of Schools. He also will ask the Board to draw up plans for additions to James Arthur Elementary to handle increasing enrollments.

The City Council approved final plat for the new Spring Branch Addition subdivision off Bowman Springs Road. Involved in the discussion and decision were Wayne Winters, Doyle Riley and Mayor Steve Radakovich.

The winner of the calf drawing held during the Alvarado game by the KHS Booster Club was Anita Tjerina with the winning ticket sold by Timmy Wells. Danny Hickey won $50 for selling 100 raffle tickets.
