Breaking records, Lady Kat Soccer season ends

Thirty-two teams in Texas battled last week for the chance to advance to the UIL High School Girls Class 4A Soccer ?Sweet Sixteen.? In the mixed was the Kennedale High School Lady Kats, the only 3A team left in the playoffs.
 
The Lady Kats were reaching heights that no other KHS soccer team has made. {{more}}But, Kennedale?s regional bid was not to be as they lost to 4A Nelson 5-1, Tuesday night at Fort Worth?s Farrington Field. Trophy Club Nelson is making a return appearance in Austin this week, playing once again for the state title.
 
For seniors, Skylar Crowley and Lindsay Irby, it was a bitter sweet evening. They have been part of a program that has developed into a championship program over the last several years. Last year program won second place in the district with a team record of 16-3-0, won a Houston tournament and secured Kennedale?s first ever playoff victory. This year also had their own tournament championship and added a district championship to the growing list of Lady Kats accomplishments. Going three deep into the playoffs was another first.
 
Head Coach Jena Pickett had this to say on Twitter about the Lady Kats, ?I cannot express enough how proud I am of this team and how amazing our fans are! We ARE the best 3A team in the Texas!?
 
Addressing the team Pickett added, ?Keep your head high! There is nothing to be ashamed of ? you broke the mold and there is more to come! THIS TEAM MADE A STATEMENT!
 
?Thanks to our wonderful seniors for their amazing leadership on and off the field! You will be greatly missed!? said Pickett.
 
The 2013-14 Lady Kat quad squad included Taylor Bush, Erin Clark, Skylar Crowley, Kylie Deel, Taylor Fox, Baylee Gow, Claire Hamilton, Emmy Hamilton, Cara Hunt, Lindsay Irby, Abby Key, Jolene Martinez, Abigail Olmos, Alondra Olmos, Lauren Otts, Allie Thornton, Sara Vasquez and Cassidy Walsh. Team Managers were Esme Garcia, Jamie Manser and Kamryn Rodriguez. Assistant Coach was Kelly Cagle.
