Cats hope to continue streak against Alvarado

The Kennedale Wildcats have improved their overall record to 13-11 and 2-0 in district play with wins over Diamond Hill-Jarvis on Friday and Godley on Tuesday. {{more}}
 
Last Friday night it was all Kennedale with the Cats winning against an outclassed Fort Worth Diamond Hill team 93-29. After the first, it was 20-6, at half the score was 55-18 and 77-24 at the end of 3.
 
five Cats in double figures …
 
Kennedale had five players in double figures. Darious Hammond led all scorers with 23 followed by Quardraiz Wadley with 16, Colton Otts 13, Alex Groff 12 (all 3?s), Brandon Conwright 11, Zach Tate 6, Stephone Jackson 6, Devon Stapleton 4, Mike Alridge 4 and Chris Saulsby 1.
 
On Tuesday night, Kennedale traveled to Godley to play the Godley Wildcats on their court and came away with an 85-50 victory. Anytime you play Godley at their house and win, it?s a big win. The score was tied at 15 all at the end of the 1st quarter but the Kennedale Cats outscored the Godley Cats 25-11 in Q2 to open a 13 point lead going into the second half. Godley just couldn?t find the answers with the K-Cats outscoring the Godley 45-23 in the second half to rout Godley 85-50.

Scoring big for Kennedale was Conwright with 27 followed by 23 from Hammond, 10 from Otts, 9 from Jackson, 6 from Uniikye Washington, 4 from Saulsby, 3 from Groff, 2 from Stapleton and 1 from Alridge.
 
Preseason rankings had Kennedale in first place in District 7-5A but the unknown is Midlothian Heritage. The new high school in Midlothian was started this year with underclassmen but they have a 16-4 record with district wins over Alvarado and Venus.
 
Kennedale plays Alvarado Friday night at home with the varsity game starting at 8 p.m. then Venus next Tuesday followed by Midlothian.
 
81 threes is a new school season record …
 
More than halfway through the season, the Wildcats are shooting just under 50% as team. The top scorers include the team leader Brandon Conwright with 514 points – 49% average from the field and 78% from the line. He has 81 recorded 3?s which beats the school season record set by Duran Diaz?s 77 in 2006-07. Darious Hammond has scored 315 points shooting 50% from the field and 74% from the line. Colton Otts has put up 264 points, averaging 54% both from the field and at the line. Uniikye Washington has added another 121 points while shooting 80% from the line. Stephone Jackson and Quardraiz Wadley have added 92 and 84 points to the season total since joining the team after the end of t he Wildcat football playoffs.
 
Alvarado, Venus and Midlothian coming up …
 
Leading in the total rebounds for the team is Colton Otts with 137 followed by Stephone Jackson with 104 and Brandon Conwright with 102. Conwright leads the team in steals with 44 followed by Uniikye Washington with 41, Darious Hammond 39 and Colton Otts 21. Darious Hammond leads the team in assist with 123, close behind with 80 by Conwright. Otts leads with 28 blocks followed by 13 from Zach Tate.
