Cross Country already running miles with miles to go

Two meets in, the Kennedale Cross-Country teams are getting stronger. There are 7 meets this season for the XC runners to prepare for the district meet on October 7 at the Harold Patterson Complex in Arlington. {{more:Read more …}}
 
Kennedale has improved their standing in the first two meets. In the first meet in the Cowtown Challenge hosted by Covenant Classical, 55 teams entered the event ranging from private to public schools from 1A ? 6A. The Wildcats finished 7th in the 4A/Others and the Lady Kats finished 12th.
 
This past week at the Burleson Elks Run, the Wildcats finished 4th among 4A/Others while the Lady Kats came in 5th.

Cowtown Challenge August 26:
  • The Wildcat Varsity finished in 7th place behind Boyd, Bridgeport, Keene Smith, Castleberry, Brock and Argyle. Top runner for Kennedale was Ronald Burke (Sr) 19:09.30 coming in 15th. Marcos Flores (Fr) 19:20.39 was 22nd. Other Cats were Daniel Escobar (Sr) 20:20.78, Alexander Ferretis (Fr) 20:39.13, Carson Ham (Sr) 20:59.35, Alex Ortega (Sr) 21:47.89 and John Barbosa (Sr) 23:11.00.
  • The Lady Kats Varsity finished 15th with top Kats performer Jamie Najar (Sr) coming in 15th overall with time of 14:20.00. She was followed by Lady Kats Bianca Braz (Sr) 15:11.46, Nadia Williams (So) 18:00.15, Trinity Galvan (Fr) 18:31.00, Baylee Gow (Sr) 19:07.51, Erica Rico (Sr) 19:39.91.
  • The Lady Kats JV?s top performer was Christian (Taylor) Fox (16:01.68) who finished overall in 13th place. She was followed by Emmy Hamilton (Sr) 23:02.82.
  • The Wildcat JV finished 12th in the 5A/4A combined 5,000m division. Clay Hickey (Sr) had the fasted Cats? time at 23:15.93. He was followed by Michael Moreno (So) 24:02.67, Logan Fucile (So) 25:02.65, Randy Diaz (So) 28:11.03 PR, Lee Crosley (28:18.57), Carlos Diaz (Jr) 29:00.49 PR and Blake Dailey (Jr) 32:46.79.

Burleson Elk Run September 2 (PR = personal record per Athletics.net)

  • Wildcat Varsity finished 4th among 4A teams (5,000m) behind Stephenville, Brock, and Castleberry. Wildcat Ronald Burke (Sr) had the fastest time for team at 17:33.32 PR and earning him a 22nd place in the overall standings for the 6A/4A division. He was 7th in the 4A division. He was followed by Kennedale varsity runners Marcos Flores (Fr) 18:17.21 PR, Daniel Escobar (Sr) 18:26.89 PR, Carson Ham (12) 18:44.05 PR, Alexander Ferretis (Fr) 19:08.80 PR, Alex Ortega (Sr) 19:29.00 PR and Abram Ortiz (So) 19:58.54 PR.
  • Lady Kats Varsity came in 5th in the 4A varsity division (3,200m) behind Brock, Stephenville, Castleberry and Midlothian Heritage. Jamie Najar (Sr) was the top performer for the Kats finishing in 7th place with a time of 13:27.36. Other Lady Kats were Bianca Braz (Sr) 14:14.87, Taylor Fox (Jr) 14:58.82 PR, Baylee Gow (Sr) 16:38.60, Trinity Galvan (Fr) 17:53.81 PR and Emmy Hamilton (Sr) 19:47.02 PR.
  • Wildcat JV finished 2nd among 4A and others (5,000) just behind Midlothian Heritage. Wildcat freshmen Alan Garcia 18:49.66 PR and Bryan Garcia 8:50.26 PR were the top performer in 4A division and finishing 25th abd 27th overall (6A/4A). Other Cats included Bryan Garcia (Fr) 18:50.26 PR, CJ Chappel (Sr) 19:19.54 PR, Clay Hickey (Sr) 19:21.19 PR, Michael Moreno (So) 19:26.87 PR, Logan Fucile (So) 22:05.72 PR, Sunny Pradhan (Fr) 22:26.16 PR, Blake Dailey (Jr) 26:57.64 PR, Carlos Diaz (Jr) 31:37.92 and Randy Diaz (So) 31:46.17.

Kennedale will compete this week in the Brewer Bear Invitational in White Settlement on Wednesday, September 7. Note: changed to Friday, September 9th. They will then get a break before running in the Cleburne Buzz Run in Cleburne on Friday, September 16th.

 
Head Coaches are Heath Wakeland (World Geography, Soccer) for the Wildcats and Tammy Evans (P.E. Outdoor Ed, Softball) for the Lady Kats. Alyson Stallcup (World History, Track) is the Assistant Coach for both teams.
