Kennedale police along with the Burleson Police and the Mansfield Swat team made an arrest in the case of a suspected homicide in Kennedale. {{more}}
 
Cody Wayne Basinger, 18, of Burleson has been identified as a suspect in the case and has been booked in the Mansfield jail with a $50,000 bond set.
 
A motive in the shooting has not been released.

Telegram has reported the name of the victim as Dakota Birdwell.

 
The victim and the suspect are said to have been friends.

News is reporting that the victim, who reportedly is also from Burleson, was visiting friends in Kennedale Tuesday night when someone came by to pick him up. That was the last that they saw of him.

The victim was discovered Wednesday morning just after 7:00 a.m. in a church parking lot in Kennedale by a passing motorist. The church on North Little School Road is just across the street from the house where the victim was last seen.
 
Kennedale detectives spent the day interviewing people in the area who might have seen or heard something that could have related to the case. It was from the information obtained in their investigation that they identified the suspect and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.
 
The cause of death has been described as trauma to the head likely cause by a gunshot wound.
