KPD report on racial profiling in traffic stops

Last month Kennedale Police Chief Tommy Williams presented to the Kennedale City Council a revised 2016 report on racial profiling data involving traffic stops. {{more: Continue …}}
 
The data shows that Kennedale PD made 1,478 traffic stops last year. Of that number, there were 19 arrests and 33 total searches with 12 of those listed as consent searches.
 
Kennedale area population is approximately 57 % White, 16% Black, 26% Hispanic, 4% Asian and 0.01% Native American.
 
Of the traffic stops made 62.2% (920) were White, 19.1% (282) Black, 16.4% (242) Hispanic and 1.8% (26) Asian. No traffic stops of Native American were recorded.
 
Of the 19 arrests that resulted from the traffic stops, 11 were white, 6 black and 2 Hispanic.
 
Kennedale Police Officers reported that of the traffic stops made 2% (31) knew the ethnicity of driver.
