In a tune-up game masquerading as a playoff game, the Wildcats (9-1) completely dominated a punch-less Bullfrog team (2-9), setting up a premier game against Stephenville (10-1) next Friday.

In one of those awkward playoff games that occur when you have 3 teams from a struggling district earn playoff berths, Kennedale went unchallenged in the game. Kennedale rolled up 545 yards offense while allowing Burkburnett only 88 yards. The tempo was established early when on Kennedale?s 2nd offensive play of the game, Juwan Washington took the ball for 55 yards and a touchdown. He would go on to score three touchdowns and gain 196 yards. {{more}}Quarterback Zac Michener had two touchdown tosses plus 137 yards in rushing with another touchdown on the ground. Donny Darville had 2 touchdowns. Brandon Hull rushed 4 times for 54 yards and 1 touchdown. Boomer Poppenger added another offensive touchdown with an 11 yard catch. Defensively Patrick Loving stripped a Bullfrog runner of the ball and took it 40 yards for the other Kennedale score.

This does set up one of the most interesting matches in 3A next week when Kennedale plays Stephenville. Stephenville, long a football powerhouse, dropped down from 4A this year and has one of the top quarterback in the area. They favor the pass and are considered one of the top contenders, if not the top contender, for the state title. Game time is 2 pm Friday in Mineral Wells.
