One hundred and fifty years ago, Union Pacific Railroad began building west from the Missouri River to the Pacific Ocean, opening the frontier to immigrants who settled in existing communities or started new ones along the rail lines.

That bond between the railroad and early settlements has strengthened and grown. Today, Union Pacific serves nearly 7,300 communities from rural town to metropolis. ?{{more}}

Kennedale is one such community having been one of the early stops along the Union Pacific Railroad. As such it has been designated as a Train Town USA by the Union Pacific Railroad. This designation was officially presented to the City of Kennedale at the Kennedale Chamber Luncheon on October 16, 2013.
