Tulane wins battle for Kennedale?s defensive standout Larry Brooks

Earlier this year, Kennedale senior Larry Brooks announced that he was going to Louisiana- Monroe next year to play football. But, as his stats and play improved along with the ascendancy of the Wildcats to the highest ranks of Texas football, he attracted more attention. {{more: continue ?}}
 
After a visit last week to the New Orleans campus, NCAA DI Tulane University signed Wednesday the three star recruit who is listed at 6 foot and 185 lbs.

Through 15 games this season, Brooks has a team-high 154 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 4 interceptions with 1 for a touchdown, 4 fumble recoveries with 1 for touchdowns. He has 211 yard in kickoff return yards with 1 touchdown. Brooks also has 399 yards in punt returns and 3 touchdowns.

With his commitment, Tulane claims the highest final recruiting rating since Rival.com began compiling in 2002 at the 62 spot.
 
This is the first year for an earlier signing date in the NCAA. In the past, recruits would have to wait until February but there is now a new three day window for signing national letters of intent which year falls on December 20-22.

Wave plays in the America Conference which includes: West Division – SMU,

Tulsa, Houston, Memphis, and Navy; and the East Division – Connecticut, Temple,

East Carolina, University of Central Florida, South Florida, and Cincinnati. Tulane plays in the West Division.
