“Congratulations to PVT Macalik on her enlistment into the #usarmy This #2021 grad from Kennedale High School secured her future in the U.S. Army. PVT Macalik enlisted as a Radiology Specialist (68P) and will begin her journey upon graduation. Welcome to the team young lady.”

Macalik, a KHS senior, was able to earn a Certificate of Nursing Assistant CNA through the high school Health Sciences program taught by Chriss Burke this past year. This has given her a step-up with her military assignment as a radiology specialist.

She will be able to receive tuition assistance for future school/training through the Mongomery/Post 9-11 GI Bill. The assistance can include:

  • Tuition: Paid to school
  • Housing stipend: Paid monthly to student
  • Books & Supplies: Paid to student at the beginning of the term

What she can expect …

The radiology specialist is primarily responsible for operating X-ray and related equipment used in diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases.

Job duties will include performing body section radiography, foreign body localization, prenatal, pediatric, urogenital and radiographic examinations of the digestive, respiratory, vascular and nervous systems; operating fixed and portable radiology equipment; preparing, assembling and adjusting instruments, materials and equipment; and, inspecting and performing operator maintenance on radiology equipment.

Some of the additional training she can expect besides the basic 10 weeks of combat training in her chosen field will include patient care in radiology; medical ethics and law; human structure and function; principles of radiation protection; and, field radiography.
