The Kennedale HS Lady Kat Volleyball program, now at 5-1, moved into the #6 slot after winning their first five matches. The poll is the most recent by the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA).
Leading the 4A poll was Needville (12-0), #2 Lindale (10-0), #13 China Springs (10-0), #4 Decatur (10-0), #5 Stephenville (13-1).
Since defeating the Young Women’s Leadership Academy in the first game of the season, the Kats added another 4 wins before suffering their first loss of the year on the road last night.
Kennedale defeated Carter-Riverside 3-0, Midlothian Heritage 3-0, Dunbar 3-0, and Gunter 3-2. The Lady Kats fell to Decatur 2-3.
Kennedale splits best of 5 matches …
In the last two matches, Kennedale has been challenged for the first time this season. Playing on the road in both matches went the full five sets.
In the Gunter game, Kennedale won the first set 25-23. Gunter came back to win the next two sets 25-16 and 25-19. With their backs against the wall, the Kats won the final two sets 25-22 and 15-8.
The Decatur game was a classic back and forth battle. Kennedale won the first set 25-18, lost the second 25-13, took the lead again by winning the third 25-22. Decatur tied the match in the fourth 25-12 and captured the battle of Top Ten teams with a 15-13 win in the final set.
