John Joseph Ellsey is wanted on a violation warrant after an assault conviction and failure to register after going to Texas for work.

CONCORD, NH — The U.S. Marshals-New Hampshire Joint Fugitive Task Force is asking for the public’s help finding a convicted rapist and sex offender who is wanted on several warrants.
John Joseph Ellsey, 47, is wanted by the New Hampshire Department of Corrections on a parole violation as well as the New Hampshire State Police and Kennedale TX Police Department for failure to register as a sex offender. He is required to register due to an aggravated felonious sexual assault conviction in Rockingham County Superior Court, according to Jeffrey White, a deputy marshal.
“Ellsey was last registered as a sex offender in Danville, NH, and Kennedale, TX.” White said. “Ellsey was registered in NH as a resident and in TX for work. Ellsey was last known to be in the area of Schenectady, NY.”
Ellsey pleaded guilty to a single rape charge as well as second-degree assault, criminal mischief, and witness tampering charges in May 2005 after an incident in Hampstead in December 2003. In 2001, he pleaded guilty to a habitual offender charge and a conspiracy charge in May 2002 in Derry. In September 2014, Ellsey pleaded guilty to a felon in possession of a handgun charge and second-degree assault charges out of Plaistow and aggravated driving under the influence-0.16+, driving after revocation or suspension, and breach of bail charges out of Sandown but drug possession and a felon in possession of a dangerous weapon charges were nolle prossed.
Due to previous violent incidents, charges, and convictions, the task force has issued a “violent tendencies” warning on Ellsey.
Ellsey is 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs around 242 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. He is originally from Methuen, Massachusetts. Ellsey has several tattoos including a jester on his chest and right arm, a tribal band on his left arm, “ELLSEY” on his back, and a pit bull there, too.
Warrants for his arrest were issued on Jan. 22, Jan. 28, and July 27.
