The Kennedale Wildcats cruise past Lake Worth, 8-0

Lake Worth didn’t have a chance on Tuesday, as the Kennedale Wildcats Varsity won in blowout fashion, 8-0 in seven innings at Lake Worth HS setting a showdown with 2nd place Mineral Wells at home this Friday evening (7:30 p.m.). ?{{more}}

The game was won in the first with a run scored off a RBI single by Jay Thomas because Wildcat pitcher, Justin Jakubisin, kept Lake Worth off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up five.?Hayden Millis got on base four times in the game for the Kennedale Varsity. He scored two runs and had one RBI.

In the second inning, Kennedale scored three runs in the second on an RBI single by Millis and a two-run single by Zac “Willie” Michener. Austin Hunt started the hitting with a single on his second swing. Between two fly ball outs (Coltharp and Jake Michener) Austin Eggleston got on base via a walk. Millis then hit a single that led to Taylor?Smith (running for Hunt) scoring. Zac Michener then hits a single, scoring Eggleston followed by Millis.

Jakubisin continued to work his magic on the Bullfrogs facing only 18 batters through 5 innings and allowing no runs and two hits.

The Cats bats were silence until the 6th when the Wildcats brought home two runs. First batter up, Chayce Coltharp, hit a solo homerun on his first swing. Eggleston followed with a single on his first swing. Jake Michener hit a sacrifice on his first swing. Millis walked without taking a swing. Eggleston?makes the second score for the Cats on an error by the Frogs? catcher.

After Jukubsin sits down the three Bullfrog batters, the Cats score their last two more runs in the top of the seventh. Jay Thomas starts off with a walk but scores on a single by Austin Hunt. Hunt then make it all around the bases on an overthrow error by the Lake Worth pitcher and scores.

Lake Worth does get it third hit (single) of the game in the bottom of the 7th but was unable to score as Jukubsin, facing 1 out with 2 men on base, strikes out the last two Frog batters.
