Alumni Update: Brooks (KHS 2018) starting for Tulane this year

Green Wave safety, Larry Brooks, is making his mark in his junior year at Tulane University. The university is located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Tulane plays in the NCAA American Athletic Conference and is currently 5-5, 2-5.

So far this season, Brook is credited with 52 tackles (43 solo), 2 fumble recoveries, 2 interceptions and 3 pass break-ups.

Brooks, last year as a sophomore, played in 11 games for Tulane, starting one. He recorded 4 pass break-ups along with 3 interceptions last year.

In his senior year at Kennedale, he played for the 2017 team that reached the finals of the UIL state championships, a first for Kennedale. The same year, he was named a Class 4A All-State player while registering 146 tackles, 13 for loss, 3 pass breakups, 3 interceptions, 2 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries and 1 blocked field goal.

Larry’s college major is Health and Wellness.

About the AAC and Tulane …

Other teams in the AAC include Cincinnati (8-0), Tulsa (5-1), Memphis (6-2), the University of Central Florida or UCF (6-3), Houston (3-3), SMU (7-3), Navy (3-5), East Carolina (3-6), Temple (1-6) and South Florida (0-7).

It has been a season of close calls for Tulane. Last week, Tulane lost to Tulsa 30-26 in double overtime. Earlier in the season, the Green Wave lost in single overtime to SMU 37-34. In the second game of the season, the game was tied with Navy right up to the closing seconds when the Midshipmen kicked a field goal winning 27-24.
