Correction in today’s game schedule, it is @ Alvarado tonight!

The Kennedale Lady Kats softball team this past week polished off Hillsboro, 6-2, and Life Waxahachie 11-1. The wins kept the Kats firmly in 2nd place in District 10-4A with another chance at the district-leading Godley next week.

District 10-4A in softball plays a round-robin schedule, playing each of the five other district teams once before repeating it in the same order to complete the season. Teams are now in the second round of action.

Overall District 10-4A is not a competitive district. Godley and Kennedale are the two top teams, competitively separate from the rest of the district. Both teams have two games left to play before the Lady Kats of Kennedale can once again challenge Godley in a wrap-up district play this season.

District Standings …

Currently, the standing finds the Godley Wildcats maintaining their hold on 1st place at 21-6, 7-0, followed by #2 Kennedale (14-8, 6-1), #3 Alvarado (8-15, 2-3), #4 Venus (2-8, 1-3), #5 Hillsboro (2-13, 0-4), and #6 Life Waxahachie (4-11-2, 0-5). Godley remains the favorite and is now state ranked at #3 in Class 4A by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

Godley will have no serious challenge in its next two games in playing Hillsboro and Life Waxahachie. However, Kennedale will have to watch for an upset bid by 3rd-place Alvarado. The Lady Kats won the first game of the series by a score of 19-16 but as seen by that score Alvarado is capable of putting up large numbers on the scoreboard.

Schedule for final 3 district games …

Kennedale will play at Alvarado with a game time set for 6 pm. It will be their final home district game of the season. The following Tuesday, the Lady Kats will travel to Venus with a game time set for 6 pm. The final district game will be played at Godley on Friday (4/21/23) at 6 pm.
