It was a reassuring night for the Kennedale Lady Kats (16-11, 9-2) as they completed a sweep of the Life Waxahachie Lady Mustangs (9-26, 2-10) last night at home by a score of 66-39.

It comes on the heels of an upset by Alvarado last Friday (70-58) which gave the Kats their second district loss of the season and knocked them out of a share of the district title with Godley.

This was the final game of the regular season for the Lady Kats. The playoffs will start with Kennedale coming in as a 2nd seed out of District 10/4A.

In District 10/4A standing Godley finished in first place with a 25-7, 11-1 record, their only district loss was to the Lady Kats. Kennedale finished in second place at 17-11, 10-2. In third was Alvarado at 22-10, 9-3. Ferris at 12-19, 6-6 was fourth followed by Hillsboro (18-12, 4-8), Life Waxahachie (9-26, 2-10), and Venus (4-26, 0-11).

As it stands now the Lady Kats would play Fort Worth ISD Benbrook starting next week. (Final games for District 9/4A have not all been reported yet in MaxPreps which may yet change the opponent).

Kennedale falls to the delay game …

Meanwhile, the District 10/4A race remains in doubt as the top three teams are busily knocking each off.

On Tuesday night the Wildcats (26-7, 8-2) who seemed to be comfortably in a first-place tie were lulled into a loss by Life Waxahachie (29-5, 10-1) with a football score of 36-28.

Kennedale has two games remaining with a Friday night game vs Ferris at home at 7:30 pm. That game will be followed next Tuesday against Venus in an away game at 7 pm.

Current standings have Life at the top with a 29-5, 10-1 record followed by Kennedale 26-7, 8-2; Alvarado 27-4, 8-2, Ferris 17-14, 5-5; Hillsboro 18-13, 4-7, Godley 5-24, 1-9 and Venus 6-25, 0-10.

All eyes in the district will be on Alvarado as they travel to Life Waxahachie Friday night to take on the Mustangs. Game time is set for 7 pm. Life won the earlier matchup 60-53.
