About Aubrey …

Aubrey is a town in North Texas located on US 377 north of Denton. It is celebrating its 50th year as a school district.

Aubrey High School plays in District 7/4A, which includes Paris, Panther Creek, Sulphur Springs, and Celina. The growing school district moved up to 4A Division I from Division II this year, reporting 1039 students at the high school.

The Aubrey Chaparrals are ranked #13 by MaxPreps and won their first game this season against Sunnyvale 33-31. Texas Football had Aubrey ranked #23 in Class 4A in the earlier preseason poll.

Last year, Aubrey (8-4-0) went three deep in the playoffs year after winning their district title.

New district, new division …

Starting with the 2024 season, Aubrey HS is in a new district and a different division, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football has Aubrey picked to finish 4th in district standings behind Panther Creek, Celina, and Lake Dallas.

Before the season started Aubrey reported 4 returning starters on offense and 5 on defense.

Head Coach Keith Ivy is in his 11th year. He coached the Chaparrals to their best consecutive winning seasons in 2020 (11-2-0), 2021 (12-2-0), and 2022 (10-3-0) while they were in Division II.

Cats are expecting a confrontation with another athletic team

Kennedale and Aubrey have not played each other before this year. The Wildcats (0-1) are fighting for their first win of this young season.

The Wildcats rarely lose back-to-back games. Last year was one of those rare exceptions when they went 0-3 at the beginning but came back for a season record of 7-4, another district championship, and a playoff berth.

Game time temperature should be in the lower 80s with partly cloudy skies.
