The Kennedale Wildcats are currently 3-1. They are coming off an unusual 13-13 mark last season. While that was close, the Cats have not had a losing season in 16 years. The current crop of Cats are planning to build on that .500 finish.
In their first game this season, they defeated (4A) Decatur 58-55, followed wins against 4A Anna (3-1) 66-43 and 5A Granbury 56-55. This past Tuesday they lost their first game of the early season to 4A Argyle (3-2) 51-42.
This coming Tuesday, Kennedale will get a chance to play at home to take on 4A Alvarado The varsity team will play at 8 pm in the Wildcat Den at Kennedale High School.
It was a nice win against the Anna Coyotes since it was the Coyotes last year who knocked Kennedale out of the UIL playoffs in the first round by a score of 73-68.
District info …
In district last year Kennedale finished at 5-3. The Cats play in District 10-4A which is made up of Dallas Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy, Irving North Hills Prep, Arlington Summit International Prep, Dallas Williams Prep, and Irving Ranchview. Summit International and North Hills will not be fielding a basketball team this season.
The district team to beat this year Faith Family (7-1) again. Faith Family as a charter school has built its reputation in part on the quality of its basketball program. This year the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) currently has Faith Family ranked #1 in Class 4A. It started out last year in a similar position.
Kennedale will not open district play until January 8 when it is set to play Faith Family at home.
