Tuesday night the Kennedale LadyKats volleyball team defeated the Venus Lady Bulldogs 3-0 to move to 13-13 for the season and 6-4 in district play.
The current District 12/4A standings have Kennedale in third place. The district leader is Godley at 10-0, followed by Ferris at 8-1, Kennedale at 6-4, Life Waxahachie at 5-5, and Alvarado at 5-6. The last two teams are Hillsboro 1-8 and Ferris 0-11. In the past, the top four teams have qualified for the UIL playoffs.
Late-season drama …
There are three teams (Alvarado, Kennedale, and Life) in contention for the last two playoff spots. It is possible that these teams could end the season with 6-6 district records.
Kennedale has two matches left, both are away contests. This Friday the Kats travel to take on 4th place Life Waxahachie (17-12, 5-5). Kennedale and Life have split matches this season with Life winning an early-season game 2-0. The second matchup came in the first round of district play with the Kats earning a 3-1 victory. A win on Friday would seal the deal for the Kats.
If that doesn’t happen Friday night, Kennedale would have to pull a major upset of Ferris (24-7, 8-1) next Tuesday to secure a spot in the playoffs.
