Greetings, Kennedale ISD Family,

My name is Darryl Owens and I am asking for your vote for Kennedale ISD School Board place number 6. I have proudly lived in the district since 2002. I have a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from University of Texas Arlington and chose to move to the Kennedale ISD School area because of the wonderful community and the opportunity for a great education for my children.

I am blessed to be married to my wife Irene for over 26 years.  Irene has been a teacher at Arthur Intermediate School for 14 years, and my two wonderful children, Jiselle and Jasmine graduated from Kennedale High School.

I am retired from AT&T where I worked for almost 27 years as a Sales Executive, Trainer, Performance Development Coach and Analytics Manager. These functions allowed me to create synergy through different groups, reduce fiscal waste, and provide solutions to complex problems.

Further, I am current Treasurer of the Kennedale Rotary Club and proudly serve on its Executive Committee.  As a member of the Executive Committee, I serve as a participant and organizer of the Kennedale High School Chili Supper Cookoff which provides thousands of dollars for Kennedale High School students.

I am one of 26 community members appointed by the Arlington City Council to represent the Greater Arlington 2020 Census Complete Count Committee; whose purpose is to “represent the various historically undercounted communities within Arlington/Kennedale.”   One of my main focuses within the committee is to assist with acquiring Kennedale’s fair share of government funding for the Kennedale School District.

As an advocate for student success, I represented AT&T in their Aspire Program to motivate and provide leadership for at-risk students and served as a coach for the Steve Harvey Mentoring Program for Young Men.

At present, I am dedicated to upskilling today’s workforce in my training and development company through offering courses in Diversity, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Situational Leadership. I ask for the opportunity serve Kennedale ISD and use all my talents to make us even better.

Leadership and Community Services include:

  • Kennedale Bond Steering committee
  • Former President-Elect Kennedale Rotary Club
  • Arlington Census2020 Complete Count Committee – Board member
  • Arlington New Beginnings Assisted Living Facility – Board of Directors, Arlington, TX
