Browning 4A Ford Tough Player of the Week

Joining Browning, the Class 4A selection, are Midland quarterback Jackson Anuszkiewicz in 6A, San Antonio Alamo Heights quarterback Will Chaney in 5A, Sunnyvale athlete Trey Sterling in 3A, Freer running back Librado Carrillo in 2A and Austin Hyde Park quarterback D.J. Boler for private schools.
 
In its eleventh consecutive year, Ford Motor Company’s Player of the Week program is again honoring six outstanding student-athletes each week of the 2016 regular season, recognizing one player in each of the state’s six athletic classifications.
  • Anuszkiewicz hit on 15 of 23 passes for 358 yards and six touchdowns and also rushed for one score in a 49-48 win over Odessa Permian.
  • Chaney completed 26 of 41 passes for 405 yards and five touchdowns in a 59-34 win over Seguin.
  • Browning helped Kennedale pitch its first shutout of the season, and he also scored two defensive touchdowns in a 47-0 win over Springtown. The 6-4, 240-pounder also forced two fumbles, had four tackles and recorded a sack.
  • Sterling carried 25 times for 278 yards and five touchdowns, caught two passes for 39 yards and one score and recorded 11 tackles, forced three fumbles and returned a fumble for a touchdown in a 55-28 win over Dallas Madison.
  • Carrillo carried 18 times for 484 yards and found the end zone 10 times on runs of 56, 41, 20, 47, 60, 30, 44, 56, 46 and 15 yards in an 86-61 win over Three Rivers.
  • Bolger completed 31 of 35 passes for 405 yards and five touchdowns in a 49-48 win over Austin St. Michael’s. Hyde Park trailed 41-20 with just over four minutes remaining before Bolger tossed a pair of touchdown passes and let another TD drive in the span of 1:18 to force overtime.
