Payton Williams dfwVarsity Player of the Week
- Kennedale?s guard Payton Williams (Sr) was voted one the first Player of the Week in a dfwVarsity poll of readers. Last week Williams averaged 18 points in two wins including 20 points against FW Benbrook in district games.
- The Lady Kats at 18-3 are off to one of their best starts in several years. Last year at a similar spot on the calendar the Lady Kats had recorded 6 losses in their 24-12 season. In 2014-15, they had 5 losses by this time and ended with an 26-10 season and in 2013-14 the Kats had 6 losses in a 20-11 season.

- With the 82-55 defeat of Mineral Wells this past Tuesday, Kennedale has an early lead for the top spot in District 7-4A three games into district play. Kennedale has won or shared the district title for at least the last 6 years.
- Kennedale hasn?t been ranked this high at the midpoint of the season in years. Currently, Kennedale in Class 4A is ranked #3 in the Texas Girls Coaching Association (TGCA) and #4 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC). Both have Argyle at #1 and Liberty Hill at #2. TGCA has Kennedale ahead of Godley at #3 while TABC has Godley ahead of Kennedale in the #3 spot.
The Kats have a short break but are back in action in the Whataburger Tournament next week December 28-29 starting with Christoval High School at 10 am at Saginaw High School. Whataburger
