A rare feat …
But, the biggest story of the meet was senior Justin Lindsey. He has made four trips to the state meet and won gold three times in his weight class. In the process, he has become a member of an elite group in the state. He has joined just 12 other lifters who have won three state titles.
In 2014, his freshman year, he was part of Kennedale’s state championship team. That first year, he finished in 11th place with a combined total of 785. The next year,he jumped his total to 955 and his first gold. In his junior year, he won his second title with a total of 1020 and set a state record in the process. This year, besides earning his third title, he broke his own state record with a total lift of 1025 and also set a new state record in the squat at 425.
This year,Justin came into the meet ranked #41 in Texas among all lifters in all classifications. and he was ranked #100 nationally among all lifters in all classifications.
