Kennedale, Texas, class of 2017 linebacker Baron Browning says that Texas A&M offered him late Tuesday afternoon. {{more}}

Defensive coordinator John Chavis and area recruiter Mark Hagen were through his school earlier in the day.

“I talked to coach Hagen on the phone after they left and he said they’re going to recruit me very hard,” Browning said. “He said coach Chavis fell in love with me watching me work out today. He thought I was more explosive than another five-star in North Carolina they are recruiting.”

He added, “This is an offer I’ve been waiting for because if I choose to play in the SEC this is a school that can allow me to chase my dreams close to home. It’s definitely a place I can see myself playing at. I don’t have any leaders but they’re up there near the top. I’m not going name names but they’re up there with a few others.”

Browning was injured for much of his sophomore season so schools have been a bit shy to offer. However, he has been showing them that he is fully healed.

“I get 100 percent cleared next week,” he said, “but I’ve already been doing everything. Since I don’t really have any sophomore film, coaches want to see me in person. They want to see if I’m as big as I’m supposed to be and they want to see me run and see me move.”

The 2017 four-star linebacker visited College Station earlier this spring for the Aggies’ “Friday Night Lights” event. The 6-foot-3.5, 220-pounder is ranked as the No. 30 overall prospect and No. 1 inside linebacker in the 2017 class.

The Crystal Ball for Browning currently has 50 percent of the predictions for A&M and 50 percent for Baylor.
