Al was born in Dallas, Texas on February 22, 1925 to Girlie Gertrude Langston and Chester Adolphus Stricklin. He was the third of five children: Faye Garrett, Chester Ray Stricklin, Joella Ferguson, gone on before, and the only surviving sister, Louella Mae (Sug) Cromer.

After graduating from Polytechnic High School in May, 1942 he joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, from March 1943 to February 1946, when he was honorably discharged.

On June 3, 1946 Al Stricklin married Myrle Gene Vaughn of Grand Prairie. After being called into ministry, Al Stricklin went to Southwestern Bible Institute of the Assemblies of God and graduated in 1948 with a degree in Education. He attended Texas Christian University (TCU) and graduated with a BA degree in 1950. Al Stricklin completed his Masters in Theology degree with a minor in Music from Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX.

Rev. Al Stricklin was called to pastor his first church in Rising Star, Texas in 1951. During his ministry he pastored ten additional Assembly of God Churches: Mitchell Boulevard and Brentmore Heights both of Fort Worth, then First Assembly in Independence, Missouri. He returned to Texas to Pastor Granbury Assembly, Kennedale Assembly, Burleson Assembly, and Fredericksburg Assembly. Rev Stricklin was then called to Ouray Colorado to Pastor, completing his ministry at Arlington Heights Assembly and Seguin Assembly of God.

Al Stricklin’s passion was to minister the gospel, build churches and lead souls to Jesus Christ.??
Music was also an important part of his life. He enjoyed playing instruments and was skillful on piano, organ and several stringed instruments.

Al Stricklin was a loving husband and is survived by his wife, Myrle Gene Stricklin, of seventy-two years and a good Father to six children; Carma Grimes, and husband Tom, Merlene Cox and husband Jim, Timothy Stricklin, Joel Stricklin and wife Lori, Pamela Gholson and husband David, Debra Coffie and husband Tony. He was blessed with 18 Grandchildren: Michelle Turner, Tommy Grimes, Angela Sommer, Melissa Klauss, Jamie Dunlap, Lori Cox, Lisa Thomas, Diana Biggs, Richard Stricklin, Tamara Pearce, Tiffany Stanton, Tiara Stricklin, Janay Bullard, Jennifer Coffie, Jace Coffie, Valencia Williams, Erika Williams, Terika Williams and 32 Great-Grandchildren with two on the way. Al also leaves behind many beloved Nieces and Nephews.
