Arbor Day Celebration Saturday with free seedlings

This Saturday, November 8 starting at 11 a.m. at Kennedale Junior High there will be an Arbor Day Celebration with hot dogs, free seedlings (while they last) and a live bird demonstration.

Kennedale, the Keep

Kennedale Beautiful Commission and the Kennedale Junior High PTA with donations and support from TXU. Kennedale Junior High is located at 930 Corry Edwards Dr, Kennedale, Texas 76060.

  • 11:30 ? Planting of two large native chinquapin oaks donated by TXU
  • 12:15 – Bird show presented by the Raptor Center with owls, falcons and hawks
  • Free tree seedling will be given out as long as supplies last.

The National Arbor Day is April 12 but states set different dates according to the best times to plant trees in their states. Arbor Day is the first Saturday in November.

 
The United States has 10 ?hardiness? zones based on the average annual low temperature. Texas is in Zone 8 which means the average annual low temperature is between 20 to 10 degrees. Trees or plants that can tolerate a temperature low in that range are best for this zone.
