A small group of Kennedale residents, city officials and Kennedale first responders gathered in the early morning light Thursday at Kennedale TownCenter to honor the fallen on 9/11. {{more}}
 
The ceremony took place at the 9-11 Memorial built and dedicated in 2011 by the City of Kennedale and numerous supporters. The memorial displays an iron beam from one of the Twin Towers destroyed on that day in 2001.
 
It was a simple ceremony. Kennedale Fire Chief Mike McMurray welcomed everyone and led a pledge to the American Flag. City Manager Bob Hart offered a prayer for those who sacrificed all in the protection of others.
 
Emerald Hills Funeral Home General Manager Zach Carnley and Funeral Director Sarah Vasquez presented the City of Kennedale with a commemorative collage which will be on display at Kennedale City Hall.
 
The 9-11 Memorial is open daily and is a part of the TownCenter Park. There is no cost.
