It was a volleyball game that attracted a lot of interest. As reported by the Kennedale News on Wednesday, the #13 Lady Kats of Kennedale* took on the #4 Lady Cats of Krum Tuesday in a battle of top tier teams that went the full five sets before a winner was determined. . It is just a reminder that Kennedale does have a very good volleyball team this year and one that should go deep into the playoffs.
Volleyball: Krum tops Kennedale in catfight
KRUM ? Krum created quite a buzz over the last few weeks, posting a 25-2 record and riding into Tuesday?s contest with an eight-match winning streak. The visiting Kennedale Lady Kats looked to end it.
The Lady Kats gave Krum a scare, but the host Lady Cats came away with a narrow 24-26, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12 at Bennie Enis Gymnasium.
Kennedale took the first set ? a feat no team had accomplished all season against a Krum team that has swept 20 opponents.

Krum won the second set while led by outside hitter Ashleigh Wolf?s five kills. During the set, Wolf ? who now is third in District 9-4A with 210 kills ? recorded her 200th kill, extending her team?s led to 19-15.
The third set was crucial, but Krum fell 25-23.
Kennedale outside hitter Maggie Pyles and middle blocker Ranaja Taylor gave the Lady Cats? defense most of its early troubles. The duo combined for 10 kills in the third set, while Taylor made it difficult for Krum?s defensive backs, ripping multiple shots from far back.
The fourth set was do-or-die for Krum, and Romine stepped up.
?She had some great kills for us in the third set, which we ended up losing, but got the game-winning kill in the fourth set to keep us alive,? [Krum Coach Lynn] Larson said.
The fifth set was led by a different but familiar group for Krum.
Middle blocker Courtnie Roberts ? a Delaware commit ? Wolf and Romine led the Lady Cats? comeback after trailing 12-8. The trio scored Krum?s last seven points of the 15-13 win. Romine ripped a defining kill over the net to end the match.*Note: Kennedale News used the rankings of MaxPreps
