Like to learn more about birds that are in the area? The City of Kennedale, in cooperation with the Friends of the Southwest Nature Preserve, offers you a chance this Saturday, May 6th. {{more: READ MORE …}}
There is an optional classroom instruction starting at 8:00 a.m in the City Hall Conference Room at 405 Municipal Drive in Kennedale. It will be followed by a birdwatching hike at the nature preservation.
Topics include:
- Bird anatomy as it pertains to field identification
- Types of birds common to our region during this season
- Basic ecology, habitat associations, and behaviors
Birdwatching at Southwest Nature Preserve begins at 8:30 and continues until 0:00 a.m. Address is 5201 Bowman Springs Road in Arlington.
The walk will include the boardwalk at the South Pond and then a hike along one of the trails.
The concrete trail leading to the boardwalk is handicapped accessible, but the other trails may involve steep climbing.
