R.F.P. Elementary Presents, The Poetry Cafe, by Jana Carter {{more: continue …}}?
Fourth graders wrote poems in class to prepare for the Poetry Cafe during Literacy Night at RFP. Many different types of poems were available for students to study and learn, so they could write one that appealed to them?
?
Some types included Limericks, Cinquains, Concrete, Free Verse, and Bio Poems. Students came up with their own topic, wrote a rough draft, shared with a partner to revise and edit, and then created a final masterpiece that included an illustration.
?
After their poems were complete, they awaited the opportunity to get on stage and read their poems to their friends, families, and teachers. This was a great way for students to take pride and ownership of their creative learning.??
Students are asking for another chance to show off more of their creative writing. Another PBL (project based learning assignment) is already in the works!
