Joel Cervantes, an 8th grade student at KennedaleJunior High School
, is getting closer to joining an exclusive club – the Millionaire?s Club. There are not many in the club, actually he may be the first, and it will not be without benefits, according to KJHS Principal Michael Cagle. {{more}}
You see, Joel is on his way to reading a million words. By October 19 of this school year, Joel had read more books than any other student in the KJHS Accelerated Reader (AR) program. In fact, in only 8 weeks, he has read over 780,000 words. There is a good chance that he will be the first to join the Club.

In the KJHS Accelerated Reader (AR) program, all students who read 1 million words will belong to the MILLIONAIRE?S CLUB. The students will be given a GOLD CARD, which will give them special privileges including the following:
- Millionaires will be able use cell phones/electronic devices at lunch.
- Millionaires will be the first called to the lunch lines each day.
- Millionaires will soon have a V.I.P. seating area at lunch.
- Millionaires will have access to the KJHS library beginning at 7:45 each morning.
- Millionaires will have first choice for Enrichment club/organization selections.
