MaxPreps has ranked Kennedale #1 most if not all season and Abilene Wylie has risen to #2 and been there for a good part of the season. Maxpreps advertises its ?power rankings? which consider strength of schedule. Those rankings are in contrast to the Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) which had consistently listed the defending champion Kennedale as #3 this season, only recently moving Kennedale up to #2 in their final poll on April 6. Wylie was in at #10.

Kennedale is the defending state champion. In two years of play they have lost only one game to a 4A team, last year against Stephenville in a 4-0 game played in January. Since, they have gone 35-0 against their counterparts. The two losses for Kennedale this came against 6A Martin, who at 23-3-1, 14-0 is still in the playoffs playing a regional final against Flower Mound today, and Midlothian, who lost out to Flower Mound in an area playoff game last week. Wylie has established itself as soccer power in 4A. Not only are the girls playing for a final four bid, but the boys just lost out to Argyle yesterday in a region semifinal game played at Kennedale yesterday. The Lady Bulldogs have lost only four games in each the last two years with 3 ties over the same period. Their only 4A losses have come against Stephenville and Kennedale. In the playoffs this year, Wylie defeated Springtown 9-0, San Elizario 3-1, Mineral Wells 9-1 and Melissa 2-0. Wylie has recorded 12 shutouts this season. Wylie was eliminated by Kennedale in the region semifinals last year.

Kennedale scored 4 goals in the first half of play to just 1 by Stephenville and then went on to score 3 more times to win the region semifinal game by a score of 7-1. This is Kennedale?s 16 consecutive win this season and 2nd region semifinal win in two years.
