I am nearing completion of my first term and it has been my pleasure to serve as a Trustee. I was additionally honored this past year to be was selected by the other Trustees to be Vice-President of the Board.

Since making Kennedale our home 31 years ago, I have served our community as a volunteer, committee member, City Council Member, Mayor and now as School Board Trustee. I have formed relationships with local, county and state elected officials, which are valuable connections that I share with the School Board.

I am an attorney and my legal experience helps me evaluate issues during board discussions. Because of a close connection with educators, I have a unique perspective and understanding about the educational process. My wife of thirty-five years, Rebecca Clark, has taught at Delaney Elementary for thirty years and our daughter, Samantha, teaches blind and visually impaired students. Our son, Chris, who has a Business Information Systems Degree and works at Alcon, helps me understand the implementation of new technology. My experience and knowledge will help promote the continued success of the KISD School Board.

I believe every opportunity to volunteer, no matter the size of the task, is a great chance to give back to our community. I engage in diverse activities to connect with students, parents, and staff across our district. I work book fairs, read to elementary school students, participate in Career Days and am a ?Grateful Dad? welcoming students, parents and staff on Friday mornings at Kennedale High School.
?
Other activities include helping teachers prepare new classrooms each year, hanging thousands of pieces of student art for display, cooking hamburgers at football games, working Daddy-Daughter dances, donating blood at our district blood drives, and joining in performances with our students in Community Theater. For years, I volunteered to get dunked in the Dunking Booth and Fun Flush at the Delaney Elementary Carnival even when it was freezing cold outside! I contribute regularly to the Kennedale Education Foundation and community fundraisers to support college scholarships, campus events, and student activities.

During the past year, the KISD School Board engaged in an extensive search process and recently hired Mr. Chad Gee as the new Superintendent of Schools. We have the opportunity to move our School District forward to achieve even greater success.
?
Through years of service, I am learning how to be an effective Board Member and to address challenges in a productive way. As a Board Member, I believe it is critical that I exercise Good Governance. I know we can achieve more growth and success working together with ongoing positive collaboration. I hope to earn your vote to represent your voice.
