Colton Everett Vassar, age 29, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Killeen, Texas on March 1, 2018. Processional following to Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.?Colton was born on February 25, 1989 in Arlington, Texas to Everett Vassar and Beverly Wallace. He was a member of the Kennedale High School Wildcats basketball team and graduated from KHS in 2007.?Colton entered active-duty military service in October of 2015 as a Bradley Fighting Vehicle System Maintainer and had been assigned to 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood starting in April 2016. He was deployed in support of the Republic of Korea from July 2017 through February 2018. Colton?s awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.?Colton had a passion for cars and drag racing as he followed in the footsteps of his dad and brother, Dustin. Amongst many race wins, his biggest career accomplishment was winning the Division 4 Bracket Finals Race of Champions in No Electronics.?
Colton is survived by his parents: Everett Vassar of Joshua, TX and Beverly Wallace of Granbury, TX; brothers: Jerry Downs and wife Bianca of Mansfield, TX, and Dustin Vassar and fianc? Jana of Midlothian, TX.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Everett and Claudia Vassar; and his maternal grandparents, J.C. and Retha Wallace.
